And another one
September 24, 2006 on 10:05 pm | In Magic | | BalinorOk I just played RadioactivePheonix with my re-creatation of the old prison/turbo stasis deck which I call T2 TurboPrison. It’s a Type 2 deck with Kamigawa not included as they’re rotating out very soon being replaced by Time Spiral. As you can tell I have edited this post and the list to include the new Time Spiral cards.
(Pre-Time Spiral)
Creatures
2 Guardian of the Guildpact
2 Blazing Archon
2 Skyhunter ProwlerSpells
2 Traumatize
4 Exhaustion
4 Rune Snag
2 Vengeance
2 Condemn (edited from Chastise)
2 Wrath of GodEnchantments
2 Worship
2 Ivory Mask
4 Faith’s FettersArtifacts
2 Plague Boiler
3 Storage Matrix
2 Howling Mine
3 MillstoneLand
4 Hallowed Fountain
2 Quicksand
4 Mouth of Ronom
5 Snow-Covered Plains
5 Snow-Covered Island(Post-Time Spiral)
Creatures
2 Guardian of the Guildpact
2 Blazing Archon
2 Flickering Spirit
2 Magus of the Disk
Spells
2 Traumatize
4 Exhaustion
4 Cancel
2 Vengeance
2 Condemn
2 Wrath of God
3 DisenchantArtifacts
2 Storage Matrix
3 Millstone
2 Howling MineEnchantments
2 Worship
2 Ivory Mask
2 Privileged PositionLand
4 Hallowed Fountain
2 Quicksand
4 Mouth of Ronom
5 Snow-Covered Plains
5 Snow-Covered Island
As you can see this features the RadioActivePheonix inspired Guardian of Guildpact + Worship combo. Essentially this deck is designed to stop the opponent from doing stuff or get into a position where the opponent can’t win through Ivory Mask and Worship. Then using Millstone and Traumatize mill the rest of their library down. Howling Mind just speeds up the process hence giving the deck name of ‘turbo’. Also included is mass removal of Magus of the Disk and Wrath of God. Could I be missing more counterspells? Anyways I’ll like some feedback or additions or variations to the deck. I won’t be buying these cards and don’t own any of them, this is just for apprentice and to see if the eternal Turbo Stasis and The Prison decks can be made into Standard

Well, so I played it using a Gruul deck. First game milled to death (he played an Ivory Mask just as I got him down to within range of the Char I would have played next turn). Second game he lost because the game got really boring so he used Wrath (removing the Guardian which had stalled me for the last… age). Third game he used Worship and Traumatised my last Naturalise.
Suggestions:
). Or Devouring Light, but for this deck Condemn is much better.
Condemn. Vengeance, as you saw isn’t that great (even if you use it correctly
What’s with the Skyhunter Prowler? a 1/3 Vigilance Flier for 3cc? Something like Drift of Phantasms may fit the blocking role more.
The only things that stop you from dieing to creatures early game (other than my crappy draws) are Worships and blockers. Worship needs creatures so during your first few turns you’re relying on 6 creatures, and the odd spell.
4 Faith’s Fetter are a bit much.
Other than that it played quite nicely, dull as hell though until you had 2 Howling Mines out.
Oh yeah, Spell Snare is a nice counter in T2.
Take a look at the T2 Owling Mine deck in Apprentice to see how Kamigawa did it.
And I think Time Spiral is out on Apprentice.

Condemn could work but the problem with condemn is the creature has to be attacking and in some cases really powerful creatures don’t attack. Condemn can be used to replace Chastise.
Skyhunter Prowler because I was wanting a good cheap flying blocker that can also attack. Win condition in this deck is sketchy. I also picked Skyhunter because it doesn’t tap to attack which is great in this deck. Was thinking about Drift of Phantasms but it can’t provide me with an alternate win. However if others can find a better cheap flying creature blocker go ahead.
What do you suggest other than Faith’s Fetter?
Anyways I’ll have a look at Owling Mine when I get home tonight, what was that card that says creatures you control can’t be the target of spells or effects?

Priveleged Position, but in this deck you’d need 2WWW to play it. Shielding Plax on a Guardian of the Guildpact may be a better option.
If you want a cool win, go Akroma! lol.
Maybe add a Paladin en-Vec for the Worship support.
Grand Arbiter Augustin IV is a nice card. There’s probably lots of other Azorius guild cards that will work.
Sunscour will work a treat with the Howling Mines.
I’ll think of other stuff later

Looking better. Get a side-board, including enchantment removal and more stuff to slow down fast decks. So you don’t want the Paladin in there? :o. You need to get something that can’t simply be Mortified when you’re on 1 life with a Guardian and a Worship out (Flickering Spirit is nice, but expensive to use, and vulnerable to Split Second stuff).
