321 - Sol Invictus: The Romans comply with the Christians. “Constantine decreed (March 7, 321) dies Solis — day of the sun, “Sunday” — as the Roman day of rest” Also, for some more trivia on Sol Incitus: “The Romans held a festival on December 25 called Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, “the birthday of the unconquered sun.”

1876 - The US grants a patent for Alexander Graham Bell, for this thing called the telephone. “Bell’s U.S. patent #174,465 “Improvement in Telegraphy” is granted, covering “the method of, and apparatus for, transmitting vocal or other sounds telegraphically … by causing electrical undulations, similar in form to the vibrations of the air accompanying the said vocal or other sound.”

1945 - The Americans win a battle in the War. “World War II: American troops seize the Ludendorff Bridge over the Rhine River at Remagen, establish a bridgehead on Germany soil and in desperate fighting begin to establish a lodgement, which events shakes up the whole Western Front and greatly hastens the end of WW-II.”

1980 - Laura Prepon is born, you know, the red head from that 70’s show. “”People think I’m a tomboy, but it’s as much because I watch U.F.C. and play poker and hang out with guys and stuff as because of Donna.
