Things that Suck

March 6, 2009 on 11:57 am | In WoW | No Comments | flippy

Yeah I know QQ more. But hey we all have to now and again don’t we?

  • Walking around in the rain at Uni. It’s poring down outside and i’m trying not to get wet, but it doesn’t work
  • Having to take the Tamaki bus is always a near death experience.
  • Not being able to go to Kebab Friday becasue you have to take the Tamaki bus back to Tamaki for a class.
  • Getting wet walking back to the Tamaki bus.
  • Wearing Jandels when it is poring down with rain, and having to run from the Tamaki bus, so one does not get completly socked.
  • Getting to Kel’Thuzad in Nax with QB for the first time. But then on Tuesday night when trying to finish him off having the server go down for 1 1/2 hours and putting everyone is such a crappy mood that we cant down him. This was after killing Sapphiron on the 3rd attempt the night before.
  • The uni internet crashing and losing half my post!
  • Getting wet walking to my car at Tamaki from class, having almost died on the Tamaki bus
  • Taking a wrong turn in the COS timed event and you end up dead at the feet of the last boss, while the rest of the party goes the right way and finishes it. (The rest of the story below)
  • Did I mention missing out on Kabeb Friday?

I’m sure there is more I could add to the list but I just cant think of anything else right now. But things are not all bad.

Last night we only had 7 turn up for the fist night of raiding this week so instead we went and did the COS timed run. Apart from when I took a wrong turn at the end (I went to the last boss instead of running straight ahead), it was a pretty fun run. Everyone else managed to go the right way and killed Infinite Corruptor to finish. No matter though we finshed with 4 minutes to spare. Yes I was to far away so I didnt get to roll on the drake but hey, it will be there again tomorrow and the run was pretty easy. Grats to new recruit Var who has been with the Guild for a week. Now you are going to have to buy epic flying.

Karazhan, NightBane

July 20, 2008 on 4:10 pm | In WoW | No Comments | flippy

So we only had nine for the upper part of Kara. What ever would we do? Well, take a lvl 68 holy pally of course! Wouldn’t you? But that’s not the good part, oh no.

What made it even more fun, was when on the guilds first shot at NightBane, our two main dps go down at 50% (stupid Mages - some people say its lucky to have Mages die, so they gave us double the amount). What do you do at this point… well, as a hunter, I was running for the door about to FD… but why not stay and give it a go any way. That’s just what we did, with only 4 dps, 1 tank, 2 heals, plus our 68 holy pally - who was on heals.

A few minutes later we were still up - then over Vent; “We could actually do this if we have enough mana and there is no enrage timer.” Who would have thought we would need to know that? One of our lucky Mages piped up (after alt-tabing to find out); “umm I don’t think so”, so on we pressed.

Guess what? 13 minutes after the fight began, it was over. That’s right, we downed NightBane. No one knows how our mana lasted that long, but it did. Might I say that our healers are awesome - our 3 healers that is - well done guys, that was a big effort on your part (even Rusty was still alive).

So the Quantum Butterflies are now 11/12 in Karazhan in just 2 weeks. ZA next week anyone?

First Time in Karazhan

July 10, 2008 on 12:36 pm | In WoW | 3 Comments | flippy

Thats right - a few nights ago, I walk into Kara for the first time. This was not only my first time, but also the first time we - the Quantum Butterflies - had put together a full Kara team. Only half of us were first times, the rest had been rolling with another guild every week and were mostly T4 with some T5 gear.

I could hardly contain myself. I had been working towards this for way too long. I had spent the last few days farming mats for food and buying elixirs. I had done everything I could to prepare myself… but even so, on the first pull I had no idea what was going on. There were so many people. Now don’t think that I hadn’t run any 5-mans before because I had. I had been running at least 1-2 a day for the past 4 weeks, trying to gear myself.

I don’t think any amount of time or effort put into reading about the boss fights, or running 5-mans, could fully prepare you for the coordinated chaos that is a Raid.

We were moving though the pulls like mad men, with the command from the main tank to “hurry up and only drink when I drink.” I was still trying to work out what was going on when I was ask to trap! The marks went up and I was trying to get over the fact that they wanted me to trap, when the MT pulled. I fumbled my way though it and managed somehow to pull off a chain trap, and maintain some sort of dps on the kill order.

It took a long time for things to settle down and for me to get my head back in the game. We one shotted everything, with only one wipe on trash before Curator. We then all laughed it off and just went right ahead and put down Curator. Which we decided was enough for one night on our first guild run of Kara. What can ya say really, other than what a run it was.

We were not expecting much going in, as a lot of us were first timers. I have to give a big thanks to the more experienced guys who made the run go as smoothly as it did.

I will make sure to let you all know on how the second half of Kara goes, just as soon as we decide on a date.

To make it even better, Legacy dropped. Can you say OMG. Also gratz to those who got their first T4 pieces.

Thoughts of Lord_Riff_Raff’s post

February 14, 2008 on 1:41 pm | In Contemplation | No Comments | flippy

I have become aware that a resent post on www.PLT1.com has stirred up a bit of feeling amongst those who hold a strong belief in the church. Now I can see why this might happen. So I wanted to respond to what was written.

I think this will have to be in two parts as there is so much to respond to. This first post will be about the first half of Lord_Riff_Raff’s post. Then latter I will get on to the rest of what was said.

Now as most of you know I have done a bit of study in this area being that I’m in the last semester of my Degree at Bible College of New Zealand. So I think it might be safe to say that I can respond to it.

I have to say that most of the first half is well, right. You don’t have to talk to many Christians to find out that they could not really tell you the Theological difference between a Baptist and a Anglican church. The main reason why some one goes to a specific church is the feel of it. Weather it is friendly, if they feel welcomed, the worship style, and so on. I think the major thing that Lord_Riff_Raff has missed is that most people these days would not see them self’s as Anglican or Baptist they see them self’s as Christian.

But this dose not make it acceptable that people don’t actually understand what their church believes. I see membership to a church as vital. This is for a whole host of reasons. Being able to identify your self with a common group of people who can offer support and advice is one of the main roles of the church.

But why don’t people understand some fundamentals of their faith? Lord_Riff_Raff has used the example of adult and child baptism. Now this should at least cause some thought to be provoked. But as Lord_Riff_Raff pointed out it doesn’t for the most part. I think one of the problems is people are just to lazy to spend a bit of time reading and finding out these things. Gone are the days of 1st century Christianity where it took 3 years to become a member of the church and you would have to know all this backwards. But I also don’t think this would be the answer, or could it? I think we can look at the church leadership for some answers. As are they teaching us or talking to us about these important issues?

Now about that little pretty graph. I have to say that its kinda right. You would find the red sector in most church’s. But isn’t that what is meant to be in a church. If you had everyone with all the knowledge and belief then how would that make it a journey of Faith? It also would raise the question of growth in your church. The diverse nature of the church is what makes it so great. If you were all the same it would make it boring.

But yes from this point growth must occur. It can never say still. We should all ways be in discussion with each other to extend our understanding for what we hold so true to ourselves. This leads into the second half of Lord_Riff_Raff post. Which I will write on soon.

The Role of the Church and the Bible.
