My new Pelikan

My latest (and 2nd to last for now) pen arrived today. It is a German made Pelikan M400 Tortoise with a Medium Nib. I picked it up from Trademe for $113 including shipping.

The M400 (like all of the Souverän Range) is a piston filler and as such holds a lot of ink. The medium nib, which writes a fine medium line, is a dry writer compared to my other pens. That been said by no means does it not lay down enough ink. The nib is smooth, the smoothest of my collection and the pen is very comfortable in my hands.

Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase, especially I didn’t really mean to win the auction. I know  it sounds stupid but I placed my bid thinking that I would be out bid. I am now very pleased that I wasn’t!

P.S. If anyone is wanting to get into the fabulous world of fountain pens, I recomend the $45 Lamy Safari (I have an Al-Star which is the metal version).

Not what I wanted Google!

Stop press!

I was at my local New World (Papatoetoe) this evening and I saw these curries on special and I thought “WIN”. I was so excited that I brought two and wanted to share it with you all.

PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY

Thanks to Peachy I have acquired a small stock pile of WMDs Twinkes and as promised I have out one in the microwave. All I can really say after doing this is DON’T DO IT! Almost an hour later and the fumes are still causing me to choke. After placing said Twinkie in the microwave for 1 minute the Twinkie has become hard as a brick. The filling seems to have either burnt and become black as the ace of spades or has liquefied into some kind of epoxy substance which once cool binds very strongly to the plate. And as I mentioned earlier the Twinkie has produced fumes which when inhaled cause immediate involuntary coughing.

I provide exhibit A as a visual testimony to my written account.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

P.S. Don’t nuke Tiwinkes. Just in case you were wondering about what I was warning against. If you want to eat them fresh out of the packet, by all means do so with my blessing! They taste quite good (although I needed a bit of prodding from Rubberpiggy to take the first bite).

Cake! (The letter [edit D])

I tell you what dose this post have to do with cake? Hmm… I am trying to tell you something by asking a question. Well anyway, this post has nothing to do with cake. Not one thing! But this is all relative, to what I don’t know. I do suspect that is some such nonsense as relative to relative or something else of mind bending proportions. I also tell you, if you want to eat more, fine! Just do more exercise!!More exercise relative to what you say? Well relative to the amount you have been doing; if that is none then get back to me and we can discuss how to increase your exercise relatively compared to your absence of exercise.

The purpose of this nonsense BORK! BORK! BORK!? I suspect is has something to do with salvaging what little of my sanity remains after reading too much Schopenhauer and Nietzsche in a short time frame. Not good for the mind that is! Makes elephants seem like lollipops made from moon dust or some such.

Pictures? No no no no, not this post. Not unless your internal circuitry needs Sorbitan monostearate.

Spork or Spock?

Which would concern you most if it were lodged in your eye, a spork or Spock?

A spork in the eye would not be a pleasant thing to experience and am not advocating sporks in the eyes over Spock in the eye.

That being said at least sporks are real unlike Spock (sorry if I have upset anyone here but Spock and the Star Trek universe are not real, neither is Star Wars I might add (Han shot first though!)). I myself would be quite worried if I had Spock lodged in my eye. This I fell would open many many confusing questions. For example: “What the hell?” “What the hell, is that Spock?” “What the hell is Spock doing in my eye!?” And once the shock has warn off questions such as: “What the hell Spock isn’t real, how the hell is he here now?” And classic questions like “Hey Spock, did Kirk really get it on with that many hot alien women?”
