The Asshole Scrolls : Oblivion
April 30, 2006 on 9:39 pm | In News | 3 Comments | SicopathAfter starting/stoping/starting/stoping/starting/stoping/starting the newest fantasy cliché-fest known as Oblivion; I think i’m starting to enjoy it. Not so much for the story, but for the asshole potential of the free-roaming style. And you know; i’ve always been an avid supporter of asshole style manipulation of games (goatse references aside).
ASSHOLE ACT : “HOT-TUBBING”
Firstly, you can influence the path of any non-stationary NPC in the game. Invisible-collisions aren’t a factor in the pathing of units so basically; you can move an NPC to any area your PC can move to without jumping or activating an area transition. Your PC can swim in water, so potentially–YOU CAN PUSH NPCS INTO INESCAPABLE BODIES OF WATER.
– I’ve gone ahead and officially named this act “hot-tubbing”, for added effect; slay the NPCs while they’re in the water and loot the clothes off their bodies. Only retards go hot-tubbing with their clothes on.
As for other merits? There’s a moderate WTF factor;
ie, finding an item of enchanted clothing worth 2000 gold, IN THE BEGINNER DUNGEON.
ie, catching a disease from a zombie you summoned yourself to smack around. I can’t wait for the “conjure hooker” mod.
Lastly, here’s a picture of my character ready to make some civilians angry;

I CALL BULLSHIT!
April 30, 2006 on 6:22 pm | In Contemplation | No Comments | Jonny ChaosThis morning, as I arose bleary and bag-eyed, I listened to the news on the b, as you do (well I do). Apparently some research group (curse media for not citing sources) have published results indicating that human input to climate change has been over-estimated. Fine, Whatever.
What irked me was that jeanette fitzsimons (of the green party) decided to claim that the results were influenced by private interest. I CALL BULLSHIT!!.
Like the greens arent! Quite aside from their zealous need to be right about the environment, they all own organic soap companies and hemp clothing labels. SO? So if we were no longer afraid of the environment crashing and burning, the cattle would start to think like they did in the 50’s: when synthetic meant good. Of course, if that happened, no one would make money from the organics industry. Clearly the greens need to keep up this appearance (to continue raking in the filthy lucre), and I call bullshit upon them.
This is not to say that I dismiss the notion of climate change, paleogeology has given us ample evidence that the climate changes, its just a question of causality, rather than culpability. I find it abysmal that the greenies run around blaming everyone before solid data has been presented. Good example: nuclear power, we had a nice co-cogitation about it on IRC a few nights ago: heres the salient points…
[22:53] mountain: Soviet scientists reported that the Chernobyl Unit 4 reactor contained about 180–190 t of uranium dioxide fuel and fission products.
[22:54] JonnyDoom: Commercial nuclear power plants use fuel typically enriched to 2-3% U235
[22:58] JonnyDoom: according to the info, there couldnt have been more than 5 tonnes of U235 in the whole reactor.
…
[23:11] Lord_Riff_Raff: we burn 6000 million tonnes of coal each year. Coal is between 1 and 10 ppm Uranium. Ergo we release at least 6000 tonnes of uranium into the atmosphere each year normally
[23:12] JonnyDoom: so thats about 12 tonnes U235
[23:13] JonnyDoom: a year….
[23:13] Lord_Riff_Raff: and it’s exponential growth
[23:13] Lord_Riff_Raff: that’s what it was like in the year 2000
[23:13] JonnyDoom: like 2.4x what chernobyl spewed out…
Who are you going to trust? People who have science and engineering (REAL) degrees? Or hippies selling pants made out of psycho-actives?
So there you have it. now shut the fuck up.

poo-poo wii-wii
April 30, 2006 on 5:08 pm | In News | 8 Comments | Jonny ChaosSo, Nintendos new console, the one with the wank-o-matic controller WAS called the revolution, which seemed like the coolest thing about it (apart from the subscription emulation service: classic zelda anyone?) until now.
Now, Nintendo’s diseased marketing department has decided to vomit up a rebranding. It will be called “Wii”. No, this is neither a joke nor a typo, “wii” it is.
Im going to hold a funeral for nintendo’s taste and sense, if anyone cares to join me. I have already composed a brief eulogy for the occaison.

VNC feedback
April 28, 2006 on 7:58 pm | In Pictures | 3 Comments | Jonny Chaosits really stupid (but insanely funny) using VNC to gank the tty of a computer occupying the same 4′ wide table.
anyway, this is what happens when you VNC into a computer thats VNCing into you. it drives the mouse fucking insane, which we cannot show due to the static nature of the image. poor you.

Whats really funny is that i used to do this with a handy cam and the telly when i was about 6, and i thought it was screamingly funny then. Proof positive i have not grown up.
